I have been wondering when Cook Out was going to build on one of the sites they purchased here. looks like location #3 is going to go from Burger King to a Cook Out sometime. I see they added $200,000 to what they paid for the building they own that is for sale now for $850,000. They paid $2,100,000 for the Burger King building. Wow Then last August, a search of Dare County property records found what had been a Burger King since 1983 at the corner of U.S. 158 and Neptune Drive had been purchased by Cook Out. Cameron Ray, Assistant Planning Director for the Town of Kill Devil Hills, said the only information he had to share this week was that the owner and designer were “still deciding on (a) development plan for the old Burger King site”. |

Cook Out would be a nice upgrade from Burger King. I'm not a huge Cook Out fan like some, but the food is better than most fast food places. Outer Banks needs a Bojangles. |

Good info, Tim! I have never eaten at cook out. I do second Jdubs Bojangles however. I like their biscuits once in a while. Their new-ish bbq is good when we are on the road. The chicken has too much breading though. |

The Cook Outs I've seen are drive-thru/walk-up only. I wonder what CO will do with all of the remining SF of the BK lot. Lease some parking to Wendys? Brew-Thru? We don't need anymore banks! |

The one near me usually has a full lot. A lot of folks go to the walkup counter and eat in their car, but there's another one in Cary that sees a lot of drive thru only traffic. I'd love to see the inside of these people's cars who can eat CO on the go. I almost need a hazmat suit! |

[ I'd love to see the inside of these people's cars who can eat CO on the go. I almost need a hazmat suit! Truth! I had heard all these things about In & Out so finally, one night traveling, I stopped in and got one. First bite "everything" slid/squished/whatever out of the other side leaving me with two buns. But, it WAS good. Somehow as a dumb azzed college kid I could manage - I think 1) these burgers today are just getting much "taller" than wider and 2) I was (so I thought) very adept at driving with my knees back then. |

The Cook Out in Farmville Virginia has a large dining room in addition to the drive thru, and it is generally very busy. Longwood University and Hampden-Sydney College are both near Farmville, lots of college kids plus locals plus visiting parental units eat at Cook Out |

Most of our Cook Outs in the Richmond area have inside dining areas. The great thing about eating CO in your car is that if you order a "Tray" it all comes in a large styrofoam container. When you are done you put everything in the container and dump it at the next stop's trash can! We don't eat fast food very often but when we do, we are looking for a Cook Out! |

I will wadger the BK on Neptune will be torn down. having been in a cookout kitchen and that specific BK's kitchen about 5 years ago the cook lines are totally different and the cookout model wont fit in that stores kitchen footprint. Aso it being 40 years old it is well past its service life as a commercial structure that has not been maintained well. |
